off to Africa!
Well, we're off to Africa tonight and I'll be away there for the next 2 weeks so I figured I'd let you all know kind of where I'm at... God has really been working in me the last weeks. For those of you who don't know, I'm doing a Level 1 Christian counselling course, and God's really been speaking to me on a deep level. This last week I've been wrestling with giving space for past hurts to come to the surface - and it climaxed over the weekend when I was challenged to "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger" (Eph 4:31), and finally opened up for the process to start. Basically, as things came up, this real sadness came over me and I was under it the whole weekend... I was really anxious about going in to college on Monday cause the Friday before there had been some really heavy prayer going on for people. I think I was anxious both that I would be expected to have it all together in prayer and worship but also that if I was prayed for, it would be too "extreme" and emotionally overwhelming.
I didn't get prayed for that day, but the next day I did - and I was less anxious by then, so probably more ready for it. It was an extreme prayer session like I've never experienced before - but it was good 'cause I was set free - God is good and Jesus is Lord over every existing evil in this world! I'm so thankful - so many people on our course have been set free from stuff. We had visiting lecturers Allard and Nick from New-Zealand, and they have a prophetic gifting and discernment which set it all off. We're all nackered, but ready for the trip!
So if you'd like to pray for us that would be great. Pray that the freedom God's Spirit has brought into people's lives would be protected. Pray that God would continue to humble us, softening our hearts so that we don't become ignorant and give in to temptations that satisfy a life apart from God. Pray that we would learn to walk with the Spirit, that He would continue to transform our minds and give us discernment to know what God's will is, and faith to do whatever He tells us. And love - that we would learn to love others around us in the same way Jesus loved us - self sacrificial love that flows out of thankfulness to God!
